When it comes to collectible cars, few factors can boost value like provenance. A case in point? A 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Cabriolet once driven by none other than Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna. At first glance, this might seem like just another well-kept G-series 911. After all, nearly 200,000 units of this generation were produced between 1973 and 1989. But this particular cabriolet tells a much deeper story-one that connects to the legacy of one of motorsports greatest heroes. Senna, a three-time Formula 1 World Champion, spent time in Portugal during the final years of his life, often retreating to the quiet town of Sintra. It was there, staying with close friend and businessman Antonio Carlos de Almeida Braga, that Senna frequently took the wheel of this very Porsche. Though registered under Bragas name due to Sennas foreign residency status, the car was unmistakably part of the drivers personal downtime. It even makes a brief appearance in the closing scenes of Senna, the acclaimed 2010 documentary. Now restored to its original Silver Metallic finish and factory specs by specialists in Portugal, this 911 remains largely untouched in spirit-with Sennas signature still adorning the drivers seat and just over 74,000 kilometers (46,000 miles) on the clock. While similar models typically fetch around USD 60,000 to USD 75,000, this ones connection to Senna has pushed bidding past EUR 620,000 at SBX Cars ongoing auction. Its more than a collectors item-its a rare opportunity to own a piece of living motorsport history. Photo Credits: SBX Cars MRSTATELESS
