Speaking at the EuroAfrican Forum on the panel Trade and Investment - Accelerating Growth in African Businesses, Nuno Rangel stressed this needed to be done with some urgency. "When we talk about Africa, we always hear that the future is in Africa - the youngest population in the world, which will double in the coming years. But for me, Africa is not a bet for the future. Its now. Its happening now. And those who are not there, should be there now." The manager stressed that it is important to complement the current export incentives with instruments that support companies that intend to take the next step: internationalisation. "Portugal already supports exports very well, but the next natural step is internationalization. It is also important to think of solutions for companies that want to advance in internationalization - open direct operations in countries, open factories and create long-term added value for Portuguese companies and for Portugal. Perhaps through the Development Bank, instruments can be developed to help accelerate this Portuguese presence in Africa. This is what Rangel is doing: we are a Portuguese company, but in Africa we operate as a local company," he said. Rangel is a Portuguese logistics company. It was founded in Portugal in 1980 and has a strong national presence, while also operating globally.
